The goblin shark, also known as Mitsukurina owstoni, is a rare deep-sea shark with a distinctive shovel-like snout, a flabby body, and a long, slender body with a tail that lacks a ventral lobe.  Goblin sharks live in deep waters, often below 800 feet (244 meters), and are found in various oceans worldwide. Its unique jaw structure allows it to extend its jaws out to snatch prey, rather than relying on high-speed pursuit. They possess ampullae of Lorenzini (electroreceptors) in their snout, which helps them detect electric fields produced by their prey.
